More Information: Admiral House Flag: Admiral 1996 - 2001, Although not a flag officer of the Club, Sir Maurice was the Admiral for six years. Sir Maurice ran a very successful family construction company. He was involved in forming the CBI and became its first president. Cowes Waterfront Trust was created to buy the Cowes Marina which was in the hands of the receiver. Through the Maurice Laing Foundation enough money was found to buy the marina and appropriate redevelopment could begin. This was the beginning of Cowes Yacht Haven. He successfully raced his many yachts including Vashti, Lojaine, Sasha and Leila.
